Key points for detection and maintenance of slurry pump bearing faults


The slurry pump operates for a long time under harsh working conditions, and the bearings, as key transmission components, are prone to failure due to wear, poor lubrication, or improper installation. Timely and effective detection and maintenance can not only extend the service life of equipment, but also avoid downtime losses.

Core points: Bearing failures in slurry pumps are mainly caused by poor lubrication, improper assembly, foreign object intrusion, and intensified vibration. Early diagnosis should be carried out through temperature monitoring, vibration analysis, and regular inspections, and disassembly, cleaning, replacement, and adjustment should be carried out according to standardized procedures.

Temperature monitoring: During normal operation, the bearing temperature should be controlled within 60-65 ℃, with a maximum not exceeding 75 ℃. If the temperature continues to exceed the limit, the machine should be stopped immediately for troubleshooting.

Vibration analysis: The use of vibration diagnosis technology can identify early minor faults, such as non integer harmonic components of inner and outer rings, rolling element defect characteristic frequencies, etc.

Daily inspection: including listening for abnormal sounds, observing seal leaks, checking for loose fasteners, and other simple methods.

Key points of maintenance operation

Shutdown and power-off: Ensure that the pump is completely stopped and cut off the power supply to prevent accidental start-up.

Dismantling the bearing seat: Use specialized tools to disassemble and avoid damaging the shaft neck by knocking; Pay attention to recording the original assembly position.

Cleaning and Inspection:

Thoroughly clean the shaft and bearing seat, remove old grease and impurities;

Check the bearings for rust, pitting, cracks, or deformation of the cage.

Install new bearings:

Ensure a clean and dust-free environment, and match the new bearing model;

Installation using heating method or press machine, direct hammering is strictly prohibited;

Pay attention to directionality (if any) and ensure a tight fit.

Lubrication management:

Add an appropriate amount of clean lithium based grease (No.2 or No.3);

The labyrinth seal also needs to be regularly injected with clean grease to block dust.

Reinstall and debug:

Re calibrate the coaxiality of the motor and pump, with an error controlled within 0.5mm;

Tighten the bolt to the specified torque and replace the damaged elastic gasket;

Before starting, manually turn the wheel to confirm that it rotates smoothly without any jamming.

Establish a regular maintenance system, inspect bearing components no more than once every 12 months, with a focus on lubrication status and sealing performance. After a new pump or bearing replacement, initial operation monitoring should be strengthened to prevent early failure due to assembly issues.
