Severe leakage of slurry pumps is often caused by sealing system failure. It is necessary to investigate in the order of "flushing water → pressure cover → shaft sleeve → packing → pump body", replace worn parts in the core, and install them in a standardized manner.
Core cause of malfunction
The serious leakage of slurry pump is mainly caused by the failure of the sealing system, which includes 7 types of reasons:
Packing installation error: The cut is not staggered by 90 ° -120 ° or the cover is too tight/loose
Wear of shaft sleeve: grooves appear on the surface (wear depth>1mm needs to be replaced)
Flushing water malfunction: insufficient pressure (0.05-0.15MPa higher than the pump chamber) or pipeline blockage
Improper filling material: Failure to use wear-resistant aramid/carbon fiber filling, or aging failure
Internal wear of pump body: Wear of impeller and guard plate leads to increased shaft movement
Equipment structural issues: bent shaft or cracked packing box
Sealing water system failure: water ring wear or pipeline blockage
Key Maintenance Specifications
Installation requirements: The packing should be placed in a single piece, with adjacent cuts staggered at an angle, and the gland bolts should be evenly tightened
Material selection: aramid/carbon fiber filler is used for heavy abrasion conditions, and polyurethane (with poor temperature resistance) can be selected for fine particle conditions
Maintenance cycle: Regularly check the flushing water pressure, shaft sleeve wear, and packing elasticity. It is recommended to replace the packing every 3 months
