Correctly aligning, neutralizing, fastening and protecting are the two most critical links in the installation of slurry pump couplings, which directly affect equipment vibration, service life and safe operation.
The slurry pump transmits motor power to the pump shaft through a coupling, and common types include column pin type, diaphragm type, and claw type. Improper installation can lead to severe vibration, bearing damage, and even shaft breakage accidents. Therefore, a standardized installation process is crucial.
Key installation steps (in order of operation)
Foundation leveling and base fixation
Place the pump unit on the foundation, use paired wedge pads to adjust the level, and use a spirit level to measure on the base or pump shaft to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment.
Preliminarily tighten the anchor bolts and tighten them again after the concrete is grouted and completely dried to prevent displacement during operation.
Coupling alignment (the most critical step)
Release the coupling and measure the concentricity of the two shafts separately.
Use a dial gauge for 360 ° full circumference measurement, adjust the motor position, and ensure:
Radial deviation ≤ 0.1 mm;
End face clearance difference ≤ 0.3 mm.
The accuracy can be improved by using a ruler and feeler gauge method or a laser alignment instrument.
Installation of coupling body
For column pin couplings: Install the bolts, washers, and nuts in sequence, and thread them through the large hole on the motor side. Reverse installation is strictly prohibited; All pins should be tightened evenly.
The new buffering design is lined with adhesive layer on the surface of the column pin, which can reduce the starting impact force.
Installation of protective cover
After installation, the coupling protective cover must be reinstalled to prevent injury from rotating parts and ensure safe operation.

After installation, a no-load trial run should be conducted to monitor vibration, sound, and temperature rise. If any abnormalities are found, the machine should be stopped in a timely manner to recheck the alignment status. During regular maintenance, it is also necessary to check the wear of coupling components (such as column pins and rubber rings) and replace faulty parts in a timely manner.
