When installing a slurry pump, special attention must be paid to the stability of the foundation, the rationality of pipeline configuration, the accuracy of equipment alignment, sealing and lubrication guarantees, and electrical safety regulations. Negligence in any link may lead to large operating vibrations, leaks, bearing damage, and even motor failures.
Slurry pumps are widely used in industries such as mining, metallurgy, and power to transport highly abrasive slurries containing solid particles. Due to the harsh working environment, the installation quality directly affects the lifespan and operational stability of the equipment. Proper installation can not only reduce failure rates, but also improve efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
Installation Core Precautions (Organized by Process)
1. Preparation before installation
Verify equipment information: Check whether the pump model, parameters, and components are complete according to the packing list, and whether the technical data (such as instructions and certificates of conformity) are complete.
Venue and foundation requirements:
The installation environment should be dry, flat, pollution-free, and easy to maintain in the later stage.
The foundation must be sturdy, level, and able to withstand the dynamic load during pump operation; The anchor bolts should be properly pre embedded or fixed.
The horizontal tolerance of horizontal pump units is generally 0.1/1000.
2. Alignment of pump body and motor installation
Consistency of centerline: After installation, the centerline of the pump unit should be aligned with the centerline of the foundation, with a deviation of no more than ± 2mm.
Coaxiality guarantee (coupling transmission):
Using a knife edge ruler and plug gauge method: the maximum error of the outer circle of the coupling is ≤ 0.10mm, and the end face clearance error is ≤ 0.10mm.
Or use the magnetic dial gauge method: jump value ≤ 0.15mm.
For belt drive, it is necessary to ensure that the pump shaft is parallel to the motor shaft and aligned through the pulley.
3. Requirements for pipeline system configuration
Reasonable pipeline design can prevent cavitation, blockage, and additional stress.
Pipe diameter selection: It should be equal to or slightly larger than the pump inlet diameter to avoid cavitation and sedimentation. It should be equal to or slightly larger than the pump outlet diameter, taking into account settling velocity.
Valve setup: Install gate valves (for easy maintenance), install expansion joints for easy disassembly, install check valves (for backflow prevention), gate valves, and regulating valves (for flow control).
Other key points: must be well sealed to prevent air leakage; The suction inlet should be equipped with a filter screen to prevent blockage, and the pressure gauge should be installed on the straight pipe section between the pump outlet and the first valve.
The adjustment of flow should be carried out on the outlet side, and it is forbidden to use the inlet valve for adjustment to avoid cavitation damage to the pump body.
4. Installation of sealing and auxiliary systems
Mechanical seal pump:
It is necessary to ensure the supply of water to the shaft seal, and it is strictly prohibited to operate without water, otherwise the seal will be burned.
Before installation, check the cleanliness of the sealing chamber, shaft runout, end cap perpendicularity, and other dimensional accuracy.
Apply engine oil or turbine oil to the dynamic and static rings to ensure smooth assembly.
Packing sealed pump:
Select the appropriate packing according to the pressure (such as impregnated asbestos for<0.5MPa and polytetrafluoroethylene for>0.5MPa).
Adjacent filler interfaces should be staggered by 120 °, with moderate tightness to prevent leakage or overheating.
Lubrication system
Before starting a pump lubricated with thin oil, it is necessary to add oil to the oil mark. It is strictly prohibited to operate without oil to prevent bearing burning.
The bearing temperature generally does not exceed 60-65 ° C, with a maximum of 75 ° C.
5. Electrical and safety connections
Electrical wiring must be operated by professionals to ensure correct phase sequence (direction consistent with the arrow) and proper grounding protection.
Before starting, check whether the turning gear is flexible and whether there is any jamming phenomenon.
Next step
After installation, the following steps need to be taken to ensure safe operation:
Static pressure test: Check for leaks in the sealing area.
Pump exhaust: Before the first start-up, ensure that the pump chamber is filled with liquid and eliminate air to prevent cavitation.
No load test run: First confirm the steering by tapping, then observe the temperature rise and leakage during normal pressure operation.
Gradually increase the pressure and temperature: Confirm everything is normal before putting it into production use.
