When selecting a slurry pump, the maximum flow rate should be taken as the basis, and comprehensive matching should be carried out based on the characteristics of the slurry, head requirements, and the high-efficiency operating range of the pump.
Slurry pump is a key equipment used in industrial production to transport liquids containing solid particles, such as slurry and mud. Correctly selecting based on traffic not only ensures stable system operation, but also extends equipment lifespan, reduces energy consumption and maintenance costs. Flow rate, as one of the core performance parameters, directly affects the specifications, efficiency, and configuration decisions of pumps, such as whether multiple units need to be connected in series.
Analysis of Selection Points
1. Traffic benchmark: based on the maximum traffic
The selection of flow rate for slurry pumps should prioritize the maximum flow rate specified in the process requirements.
If only normal traffic is provided, it is usually taken as 1.1 times the maximum traffic reference value.
This ensures that the transportation demand can still be met during peak loads, avoiding insufficient slurry supply.
2. Match the high-efficiency zone of the pump
Under different operating conditions, it is recommended to set the working flow rate within a specific range corresponding to the highest efficiency of the pump:
Slurry type, recommended flow range (percentage of highest efficiency flow)
High concentration, strong abrasive slurry, 40% -80%, reduces wear and extends the life of overcurrent components
Medium concentration, medium abrasive slurry, 40% -100%, balancing efficiency and durability
Low concentration, low abrasive slurry, 40% -100% -120%, suitable for moderate overload operation
It is not recommended to operate for a long time in the efficiency zone of 100% -120% or above, as it may lead to increased energy consumption and component damage.
3. Reasonably configure the head and speed in combination
After determining the flow rate, it is necessary to synchronously confirm the required head. If a single pump cannot meet the high head demand, multiple pumps can be connected in series to achieve it.
For high concentration or highly corrosive media, it is not recommended to use the highest speed (nmax). It is generally recommended to use a speed of about 3/4 nmax to reduce wear rate and improve reliability.
4. Reference to actual cases
For example, the 100ZJ-I-A42 slurry pump has a flow range of 93-275 m ³/h and a head of 28.7-70.8 meters. When selecting, the system design operating point should fall within the high-efficiency zone of the curve to ensure energy saving and smooth operation.
suggestion
When selecting a pump, it is not only necessary to meet the flow requirements, but also to ensure that the operating point is within the high-efficiency range of the pump, while considering the head margin (usually increased by 5% -10%) to cope with the increase in resistance caused by pipeline wear. In addition, it is recommended to cooperate with professional suppliers to provide detailed operating data (such as slurry concentration, particle size, pipeline layout, etc.) in order to obtain accurate selection support.
