Application Function

In thermal power plants, due to the use of a large amount of coal-fired power generation, the slag or ash residue after coal combustion needs to be removed. The slurry pump has the function of removing ash and slag. After mixing a certain amount of water, the slag is transported to the place where the ash and slag are stacked by the slurry pump. Therefore, sometimes the slurry pump is also called the ash and slag pump in power plants.

Application product type

Conventional slurry pump

The slurry pump itself is suitable for conveying solid-liquid mixtures with strong abrasion and hard solid particles. Conventional slurry pumps play a key role in hydraulic ash removal in thermal power plants.

Submerged slurry pump

Suitable for extracting concentrated liquids, polluted liquids, mud, mortar, etc. in thermal power plants, it is connected to an electric motor through an elastic coupling, and the pump rotates clockwise when viewed from the direction of the prime mover.

Submersible slurry pump

It can be used in operational scenarios related to thermal power plants, but attention should be paid to rotation direction, diving method, cleaning and maintenance during use. If the rotation direction of the pump is counterclockwise when viewed from the inlet, the wiring needs to be adjusted if it is reversed; The water pump should be submerged vertically in the water and should not get stuck in the sludge; Before shutting down the electric pump, it needs to be placed in clean water and run for several minutes.

The problems faced

Wear and tear issues

Due to the presence of a large number of hard solid particles in the conveyed medium, the overcurrent components of the slurry pump, such as impellers and volutes, are severely worn, especially in sections with harsh working conditions such as ore selection. The service life of the slurry pump is generally low. However, in relatively less abrasive sections such as concentrate transportation, the overall service life of the pump will be relatively long.

Blockage issue

Larger coal blocks, coal gangue, etc. are prone to clogging the slurry pump, which requires high design requirements for the slurry pump. In the production practice of coal preparation plants, if the slurry pump is blocked, it will directly affect the normal operation of the production system.

Key selection points

To choose the appropriate slurry pump model for the working conditions, it is necessary to consider basic parameters such as flow rate, head, medium density, particle size, power, speed, temperature, pH, etc. Improper selection of pump type may result in the slurry pump not functioning properly and may even lead to production stoppage. When choosing a submersible slurry pump, the appropriate speed is a major factor affecting the service life of the flow components. The lower the pump speed, the lower the relative velocity between the impeller and the slurry, and the slower the wear rate of the impeller. However, it is important to keep the operating point in the appropriate flow range.
