The slurry pump bearing is a component that supports the rotation of the pump shaft, used to withstand radial loads or combined radial and axial loads. Although it is just a small accessory in the slurry pump, it is related to the reliability of the slurry pump operation. Pump failures often occur in the bearings, and when the bearings fail, the slurry pump cannot operate. Bearings can be divided into two types based on their structure: rolling bearings and sliding bearings.

Rolling bearings have the advantages of low bearing wear, no sinking of the pump rotor after wear, small bearing clearance, ensuring neutrality, simple structure, small axial size of bearings, high standardization, good universality and interchangeability, can be purchased everywhere, cheap price, easy installation and maintenance, low friction coefficient, and small starting torque of the pump. Generally, when the speed is below 3000 revolutions per minute and the shaft diameter is below 100mm, rolling bearings should be selected first. However, it also has disadvantages such as poor ability to withstand impact, susceptibility to noise at high speeds, and accurate installation requirements.
Example of bearing selection for ore slurry pump
The bearings of the ore slurry pump are selected as a combination of single row tapered roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings, which can withstand the large axial and radial loads of the pump. Due to the large shaft diameter, good rigidity, and short cantilever of the ore slurry pump, this combination can better adapt to its working environment under harsh working conditions. At the same time, the bearing is lubricated with lithium based grease, which has high oil film strength, good grease adhesion, is not easy to lose, and has a long service life; And the bearing body is equipped with sealed end caps at both ends, which can effectively prevent impurities such as slurry from entering the bearing.

Due to the numerous advantages of rolling bearings, they are widely used in ordinary slurry pumps that meet the conditions of general speed and shaft diameter. For example, on some small industrial production lines, slurry pumps are used to transport slurry containing a small amount of solid particles. The speed and shaft diameter of the slurry pump are relatively small, and the rolling bearings can meet their operating needs well, ensuring the normal operation of the slurry pump.
Application of bearings in ore slurry pump
Ore slurry pumps can be widely used in metallurgy, mining, power, coal mining, water conservancy, chemical, light industry, petroleum and other sectors to transport abrasive or corrosive slurries containing large amounts of solid materials. In these harsh working conditions, the combination of single row tapered roller bearings and angular contact ball bearings can withstand large axial and radial loads, ensuring the stability of the shaft during pump operation, reducing damage to the pump caused by vibration and bending, and extending the service life of the pump. For example, in the mining industry, for transporting high concentration slurry, the ore slurry pump can operate stably with its suitable bearing configuration.
