Precautions during the operation of slurry pump


Operating parameters and status

Control flow rate and head: Try to control the flow rate and head of the slurry pump within the range indicated on the label to ensure that the slurry pump operates at the highest efficiency point, thereby achieving maximum energy-saving effect.

Monitoring bearing temperature: The bearing temperature should not exceed the maximum ambient temperature of 3 ℃, and the high temperature should not exceed 80 ℃; Regularly check that the maximum bearing temperature should not exceed 75 ℃, and for SKF bearings, the maximum temperature should not exceed 120 ℃.

Pay attention to the operation sound, vibration, and leakage: Regularly check whether the slurry pump has abnormal sound, vibration, and leakage during operation, and promptly deal with any problems found. At the same time, it is strictly prohibited to operate the pump in an evacuated state, as it not only vibrates violently, but also affects the service life of the pump.

Observe pressure, flow rate, and current: After normal operation, observe whether the flow rate and head (inlet and outlet pressure) of the pump are stable and meet the process requirements, and whether the current is stable.

Component maintenance and inspection

Shaft seal water supply: For some slurry pumps that use mechanical seals, it is necessary to ensure the supply of shaft seal water and strictly prohibit operation without water to avoid burning out the mechanical seal due to dry grinding. Generally, the shaft seal water should be connected before use, and the water supply should be maintained for at least 3 minutes after stopping the pump. At the same time, it is necessary to regularly check the water leakage of the shaft seal. When the leakage increases, the bolts of the packing cover should be adjusted, and the packing should be replaced in a timely manner.

The clearance between the impeller and the front guard plate: To ensure the efficient operation of the pump, it is necessary to adjust the clearance between the impeller and the front guard plate regularly (after a period of use, when the current slowly decreases under unchanged operating conditions), so that it remains between 0.75-1.00mm (generally small values are taken for small pumps, and large values are taken for large pumps).

Wear condition of shaft sleeve: Regularly check the wear condition of the slurry pump shaft sleeve, and replace it in a timely manner after significant wear.

Lubrication condition: Add bearing lubricating oil into the slurry pump bearing body, and observe that the oil level should be at the centerline of the oil gauge. Lubricating oil should be replaced or replenished in a timely manner; After running continuously for 800 hours, the lubricating oil should be completely replaced once; Ensure that the mechanical seal has sufficient flushing water flow, and excessive water flow is prohibited for water-cooled bearings; Do not use too much lubricant.

Other key points to note

Preventing impurities from entering: It is strictly prohibited to enter metal objects and large solid blocks that exceed the pump's allowed passage inside the pump, and it is also strictly prohibited to enter flexible substances such as rubber, cotton, plastic cloth, etc., in order to avoid damaging the overcurrent components and blocking the impeller flow channel, which may prevent the pump from working properly. When dealing with slurry with high impurity particles, such as removing mud, a filter screen can be placed at the inlet to reduce the amount of impurity particles entering the pump body, reduce the probability of pump jamming, and extend the service life of the slurry pump.

Avoid low flow operation: Pumps should not be used at low or zero flow points or in other situations that may cause liquefaction of the medium; Prohibit the operation of Xi'an wear-resistant slurry pump without water, do not adjust the suction port to reduce the displacement, and do not operate at low flow rates.

Support mechanism inspection: Regularly check the looseness of the support mechanism of the inlet and outlet water pipeline system to ensure that the support is secure and the pump body is not subjected to support force.
