principle
The main purpose of the slurry pump shaft seal device is to prevent leakage between the pump shaft and the casing. Common types of shaft seals include packing seals, secondary impeller seals, and mechanical seals. Here is a brief explanation of these three types of shaft seals:
Packing seal: This type of seal is typically used for conveying general media. Its characteristic is that centrifugal force disappears when parking, and the function of the secondary impeller fails. At this time, the parking sealing device plays a sealing role. The cost of packing sealing is relatively low, but with the increasing environmental requirements, its usage is gradually decreasing.
Secondary impeller seal: This type of seal has reliable performance, low price, and easy maintenance, and is suitable for conveying media containing a large amount of particulate matter. However, it also has certain drawbacks, such as the possibility of higher leakage rates in certain situations.
Mechanical seal: This type of seal is used to seal media with different viscosities, strong corrosiveness, and abrasive solid particles. Mechanical seals have high technical standards and are suitable for a wide range of working conditions. Its advantages include high temperature resistance, high pressure, and long lifespan, but the cost is relatively high.
Maintenance points
In order to ensure the normal operation of the slurry pump shaft seal device and extend its service life, the following maintenance points need to be noted:
Inspection and Cleaning: Before assembling the mechanical seal, clean the moving ring, stationary ring, shaft sleeve and other components, and check whether there are scratches, cracks and other defects on the surface of the moving and stationary rings. These defects may lead to severe leakage of mechanical seals.
Preparation before starting: Before starting the slurry pump, it is necessary to check whether the attached device of the mechanical seal and the cooling and lubrication system are complete and unobstructed. Before starting, the material pipeline should be cleaned to prevent rust impurities from entering the sealed chamber. Manually rotate the coupling to check if the shaft rotates easily. If the rotation is heavy, check if the installation dimensions are correct.
Static pressure test: Before normal driving, a static pressure test is required to check the sealing effect of the end face, sealing ring, and sealing end cover of the mechanical seal. If there are any problems, they should be checked and resolved one by one.
Sealing chamber filled with liquid: Before starting the slurry pump, the sealing chamber should be kept filled with liquid or sealed medium. If there is a separate sealing system, it should be started, and the cooling water system should also begin to flow.
Regular inspection and replacement: Regularly check the wear of the shaft seal device and replace damaged seals in a timely manner. For mechanical seals, attention should be paid to checking the wear of the dynamic and static rings, as well as whether the spring's elasticity is sufficient.
Through the above principles and maintenance points, the normal operation of the slurry pump shaft seal device can be effectively ensured, reducing the occurrence of leakage and other faults.
