Replacement process

Stop running and check

Immediately stop the operation of the slurry pump and check if the impeller is damaged. If there is any damage to the impeller, a new impeller 6 should be replaced immediately.

Check the relevant components

Check if the bearings and mechanical seals of the pump are working properly. In addition, it is necessary to check whether the motor of the pump is working properly and whether there is any overload or overheating. If there are any abnormal situations, the machine should be stopped immediately for processing.

Disassemble the old impeller

Depending on the specific pump type, it may be necessary to disassemble spare parts such as the pump body and impeller mechanical seal that are installed in series on the transmission shaft. For example, for a submersible slurry pump, it is necessary to remove the pump, loosen the nut at the front end of the pump shaft cover plate, and press out the impeller and water seal.

Replace the impeller with a new one

Install a new impeller and ensure that all fixing bolts are tightened. For slurry pumps with mechanical seal structures, it is necessary to reset the positioning card and loosen the locking screw of the shaft sleeve. Then loosen the four compression bolts of the bearing assembly and adjust the bearing assembly bolts on the bracket. Rotate one of the nuts until the impeller is tightly attached to the guard plate, then slowly adjust the other nut until the impeller can rotate smoothly and ensure that there is no friction between it and the front and rear guard plates.

Reinstall

Retighten the compression bolt and tighten the locking screw of the shaft sleeve as well. If applicable (i.e. mechanical seal structure), please remove positioning card.

Inspection and testing

Before restarting the pump, ensure that all components and systems are in normal condition. Rotate the pulley by hand to ensure that the pump shaft is not blocked, and avoid collision between the impeller and the pump casing.

Prevent impeller detachment

During the replacement process, ensure that the connection between the impeller and the pump shaft is a one-way threaded connection to prevent the impeller from falling off due to reverse rotation.

Check the overcurrent components

Reversing may cause damage to overcurrent components such as sheaths and protective plates, and these components need to be carefully inspected for any damage.

Check the mechanical seal

The material of mechanical seals is usually 2cr13 or 316L, and the reverse reaction force may cause collision between the stationary and moving rings, resulting in damage. Therefore, after replacing the impeller, it is necessary to check the condition of the mechanical seal.

Check the pump shaft

Reversing may cause the pump shaft to bend, so it is necessary to check if the pump shaft is straight.

Check the noise level

Reversing may cause an increase in the clearance of the transmission part, and if not carefully adjusted, it may produce significant noise during operation. Therefore, after replacement, the operating noise of the pump should be checked.

Check the installation and fastening situation

Ensure that all fixing bolts are tightened, including bolts 2 for the pump body, bearing components, and other connecting parts.
