Preparations
Before starting the dismantling process, it is necessary to prepare the corresponding tools and materials, including metric hexagon/open-end wrenches, bearing puller (commonly known as a triangular puller), magnetic dial indicator, outside micrometer, caliper, feeler gauge, square, brass rod, screwdriver with handle, hammer, 2 identical V-shaped irons, clean coal oil and oil basin, cotton yarn, etc.
Disassembly Steps
Separate the pump casing
Remove the coupling pin to disconnect the slurry pump from the motor; take out the bolts and pins at the pump joint surface, separate the pump cover from the lower pump body, then remove the stuffing box cover; disconnect the pipes connected to the system, such as air pipes, sealed water pipes, etc., and wrap the pipe joints with cloth to prevent debris from falling in.
Suspended Rotor
Loosen and remove the bearing housing covers on both sides; use a steel wire rope to hoist at the stuffing box cover at both ends of the rotor, ensuring stability and safety. After the rotor is lifted out, it should be placed on a dedicated support and secured firmly.
Disassemble the Rotor
Remove the pump side coupling and properly store the connecting key; loosen the end covers on both sides of the bearing housing and remove the bearing housing, then sequentially remove the bearing tightening nuts, bearings, bearing end covers, and water retaining rings; take out the sealing rings, stuffing box cover, water seal ring, and stuffing box, and inspect for wear or corrosion; loosen the shaft sleeve nuts on both sides of the pump, remove the shaft sleeve, and check for wear, replacing it if necessary.
Inspection and Cleaning
Check the wear and cavitation of the impeller. If it can continue to be used, there is no need to disassemble it. If it is indeed necessary to remove it, use special pulling tools to disassemble it while heating to avoid damaging the pump shaft. Before using the submersible slurry pump, have a general understanding of the assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of the pump, which will help ensure the successful completion of the disassembly work.
Notes
Before dismantling the filter press and slurry pump, ensure that all liquids in the pump are drained. If dismantling the rotor, drain the lubricating oil from the rotor bearing box. If new oil is stored, it should continue to be used after maintenance, and not be discarded directly.
For screws that are too tight or have been rusted for a long time, you can lubricate the nuts with kerosene prepared in advance, or gently tap the nuts with a wooden hammer before disassembling.
Important parts should be marked in advance to avoid mistakes during resetting. The mating surface and easily damaged parts should be properly kept to prevent damage.
If the gasket removed is badly damaged, replace it with a new one and clean the disassembled parts with coal oil before assembly.
By following the above steps, you can effectively disassemble and clean the slurry pump, ensuring its performance and prolonging its service life.
