Selection of wear-resistant materials
During the operation of the slurry pump, the overcurrent components will suffer severe wear and tear, which not only affects the efficiency of the pump but also greatly shortens its service life. Therefore, selecting suitable wear-resistant materials is crucial for improving the performance of slurry pumps. At present, the commonly used wear-resistant materials for slurry pumps mainly include the following categories:
High chromium cast iron and nickel hard cast iron
High chromium cast iron is known as the third-generation metal anti-wear material, with excellent anti-wear performance, and is mostly used in the processing industry where the slurry contains coarse and sharp minerals.
Although nickel hard cast iron is not widely used in China, its high hardness and compressive strength make it an effective choice for improving the wear resistance of slurry pumps.
Rubber and ceramic materials
Rubber is suitable for conveying slurry pumps with a maximum particle size of less than 10mm, and its wear resistance is better than that of metal materials. Therefore, rubber pumps are mostly used for conveying fine particle slurry without edges and corners.
Although ceramic materials have high hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, they are difficult to directly apply in slurry pumps due to their high brittleness. But through surface coating methods, ceramic coatings can be formed on metal surfaces, which not only leverages the advantages of ceramic materials, but also improves the service life of metal materials.
compound material
Composite materials, such as those reinforced with WC ceramic particles and based on high carbon low-alloy white cast iron, have high hardness and good erosion resistance.
Iron based surface wear-resistant materials are prepared by casting infiltration process, which combines the advantages of secondary carbides and cement-based carbides, further improving the wear resistance of the material.
Other measures to enhance wear resistance
In addition to selecting suitable wear-resistant materials, the wear resistance of slurry pumps can also be further improved through the following measures:
design optimization
The slurry pump is designed using the theory of solid-liquid two-phase flow, taking into account the relationship between the flow velocity field of the solid-liquid two-phase in the pump body and the concentration changes caused by it. Based on this, the wear resistance of the designed pump is enhanced and the service life is extended.
Reasonably select impeller structural parameters, such as inlet diameter, outlet width, inlet and outlet placement angles, number of blades, etc.
Structural improvement
The impeller and volute are designed to match reasonably, avoiding shape mismatch that exacerbates pump wear.
Add lining inside the pump and use wear-resistant rubber and other materials to improve the overall wear resistance of the pump.
Through the above measures, not only can the wear resistance of the slurry pump be effectively improved, but its service life can also be extended, maintenance costs can be reduced, and operational efficiency can be improved.
