Key operating points for pressure control of slurry pump
Slurry pump is a special type of pump used to transport liquids containing solid particles or fibers, widely used in industries such as mining, power, metallurgy, coal, and environmental protection. Controlling the pressure of the slurry pump during operation is crucial for ensuring the normal operation of the equipment and extending its service life. The following are some key operational points for pressure control of slurry pumps:
1. Inspection and preparation
Before starting the slurry pump, a series of checks must be carried out to ensure that the equipment is in good condition. This includes but is not limited to:
Confirm whether the valves (including electric valves) are flexible and reliable, and whether there are any damages, leaks, or blockages in the pipelines.
Check if the packing of the pump is loose and if the oil level at each injection point is appropriate.
Manually rotate the wheel 2-3 times to confirm that there is no blockage in the impeller.
Check all fastening parts for looseness and whether the protective cover is stable.
Ensure that the V-belt is undamaged and has moderate elasticity.
2. Startup sequence
When starting the slurry pump, it is necessary to follow the correct sequence to avoid unnecessary pressure fluctuations and equipment damage. For example:
For the slurry pump that starts and stops on site, it should be started after the coal slurry water enters the flotation feed tank and contacts the flotation machine station.
Turn on the cooling water before starting the motor.
3. Operation monitoring
During the operation of the slurry pump, it is necessary to continuously monitor its working status, especially the pressure parameters:
Regularly inspect the temperature rise of the motor and bearings, as well as whether the pump packing is loose or leaking, and whether there are any abnormal noises from the impeller.
Regularly check if the pressure gauge displays within the normal range. If the pressure is found to be too high, the cause should be immediately investigated, which may be pipeline blockage or pump damage, and measures should be taken in a timely manner to deal with it.
Control the liquid level of each bucket and pool, strictly manage the replenishment and washing water, ensure process requirements while preventing water shortage.
4. Maintenance and upkeep
In order to ensure the long-term stable operation of the slurry pump, daily maintenance and upkeep are equally important:
When parking, follow the prescribed sequence: first close the cooling water valve, then stop the motor, and finally close the feeding door tightly.
After stopping the pump, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the equipment in the corresponding position and make records to prepare for the next start-up.
Regularly clean the grates of each bucket to maintain a clean and tidy environment.
Check and adjust the tightness of the packing to avoid leakage of grout from the shaft seal; Replace the shaft sleeve in a timely manner.
When replacing bearings, ensure that there is no dust inside the components, the lubricating oil is clean, and the operating temperature generally does not exceed 60-65 ℃, with a maximum of 75 ℃.
Ensure the coaxiality of the motor and pump, and that the elastic pads in the coupling are intact and correct. If damaged, they should be replaced promptly.
5. Troubleshooting
When encountering specific problems such as abnormal pressure, diagnosis and repair should be carried out according to the specific situation:
If bearing heating occurs, it may be due to excessive, insufficient or deteriorated lubricating oil, and should be adjusted to the appropriate oil quantity and quality; Or check if the unit is concentric and adjust the pump to align with the prime mover; It is also possible that there is abnormal vibration, and it is necessary to check whether the rotor is balanced.
If the slurry pump does not output slurry, possible reasons include air left in the suction pipeline or pump, closed valves or blind plates on the inlet and outlet sides, using a head higher than the maximum head of the pump, incorrect impeller rotation direction, high suction height, debris blockage or small suction pipe passing through, inconsistent speed, etc. Corresponding solutions should be taken for different reasons.
By strictly following the above operation points, the pressure of the slurry pump can be effectively controlled, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the equipment.
