Basic structure and working mode: The structure of the mechanical seal of the slurry pump mainly includes two parts: the dynamic ring and the static ring. The stationary ring is usually fixed on the casing, while the moving ring rotates together with the shaft through a spring, spring seat, and other means. The gaps between the static ring and the casing, and between the dynamic ring and the shaft are sealed with formed packing. A relative drag surface, namely the dynamic protrusion surface, is generated in the inner hole where the dynamic ring and the static ring come into contact. To ensure good sealing, the protruding surface should be very vertical and smooth. Due to the spring connection between the moving ring and the shaft, the adhesion between the moving ring and the stationary ring is less affected by the vibration and shaking of the shaft.
Principles of different types of sealing technologies
Slotted sealing: shallow grooves are used, and the film thickness and groove depth are both in the micrometer range. Lubrication grooves, radial sealing dams, and circumferential sealing weirs are used to form the sealing and bearing parts. It can be said that slotted sealing is a combination of flat sealing and slotted bearings. Its advantages are small leakage (or even no leakage), large film thickness, elimination of contact friction, and low power consumption and heat generation.
Hot fluid dynamic pressure sealing technology: using various shapes of deep sealing surface flow channels to cause local thermal deformation and generate fluid dynamic wedge effect. This type of seal with fluid dynamic pressure bearing capacity is called a thermal fluid dynamic wedge seal.
Bellows sealing technology: can be divided into formed metal bellows and welded metal bellows mechanical sealing technology.
Multi face sealing technology: divided into double sealing, intermediate ring sealing, and multi sealing technology.
Application of mechanical seal in slurry pump
Application scope: Mechanical seals are widely used in mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, centrifuges, etc. Among them, double end mechanical seals have universal use and development prospects, and have become the mainstream product of mechanical seals for pumps. As a common pump, slurry pump has a wide range of mechanical seal applications.
Application selection under different working conditions: Slurry pumps have sealing forms such as packing seals, mechanical seals, and impeller seals. The choice of seal depends on the user's different working conditions.
Application precautions
Component inspection and maintenance: Common and easily damaged components of mechanical seals include static rings, auxiliary seals (O-rings), dynamic seals, and static seals. The type of O-ring should be selected based on the properties, temperature, density, etc. of the conveyed material medium; The commonly used materials for dynamic and static rings include hard alloys, nickel chromium steel, carbon graphite, ceramics, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc. Due to the high-speed rotation of mechanical seals and the pressure they bear, impurities on both ends that are not thoroughly washed or the wrong material selection can damage the end faces of the static and dynamic rings due to corrosion and high temperature. Therefore, attention should be paid to material selection during maintenance, and regular maintenance should pay attention to sealing lubrication and flushing.
Pre operation inspection: Before starting the slurry pump, it is necessary to check the attached device of the mechanical seal and whether the cooling and lubrication system is complete and unobstructed. Before starting, the material pipeline should be cleaned to prevent rust impurities from entering the sealing chamber. Manually rotate the coupling to check if the shaft rotates easily. If the rotation is heavy, check if the installation dimensions are correct. Before normal driving, a static pressure test is required to check the sealing effect of the end face, sealing ring, and sealing end cover of the mechanical seal. If there are any problems, they should be checked and resolved one by one.
