Observe Pressure Parameters
During the operation of slurry pumps, it is necessary to observe several key pressure parameters:
Im- and Export Pressure: Observe the readings of the flow meters and pressure gauges at the in- and export points to ensure they are stable and meet process requirements, so adjustments can be made in a timely manner.
Axial Seal Water Pressure: Frequently observe the pointer reading on the axial seal water pressure gauge to ensure that the pressure and flow are appropriate; check and adjust the opening of the axial seal water pipe valve to set the pressure to the specified value and guarantee the supply quantity.
Inlet Pressure: Inlet pressure primarily refers to the pressure of the liquid being conveyed that enters the slurry pump, which is determined by the conditions of chemical production in the chemical industry. Therefore, it is required that the value of the pump's inlet pressure must be greater than the saturated vapor pressure of the delivered liquid at the pumping temperature; if it is lower, the pump will experience cavitation.
Adjust pressure parameters
During the operation of slurry pumps, it may be necessary to adjust pressure parameters:
Axial Seal Water Leakage: Regularly check the amount of axial seal water leakage and whether the seal leakage is normal (dripping). When the leakage increases, adjust the pressure cap's bolts to achieve a state where the leakage forms dots rather than lines.
Axial Seal Water Pressure Adjustment: Check and adjust the opening of the axial seal water pipe valve to set the pressure to the specified value, ensuring a sufficient supply of water.
Notes
When adjusting the pressure parameters of the slurry pump, the following points should be noted:
Avoid Cavitation: Starting the pump with the outlet valve fully open can cause motor overload; using a closed inlet valve to control flow can lead to pump cavitation, which should be avoided.
Preventing Water Hammer: It is strictly forbidden to stop the pump with the outlet valve fully open, as this can easily lead to water hammer and cause damage to the pump or piping components.
Through the above observations and adjustments, the operation status of the slurry pump can be effectively monitored and maintained to ensure its efficient and stable operation.
