Check the lubrication condition
Oil Level Check
Ensuring the correct oil level is the first step in checking lubrication conditions. Low oil levels can lead to insufficient lubrication, while high oil levels may result in the loss of lubricant. With the bearing at rest, the oil level should reach the midpoint of the bottom rolling element.
Lubricant Condition Check
Regularly inspect the condition of the lubricant to ensure it is not contaminated or degraded. The grease should be 100% filled in the bearings, and reach 1/3 to 1/2 down the shaft in the housing. If grease can be expelled through seals or drain holes, the amount of grease may need to be adjusted.
Temperature Monitoring
The temperature of the bearings can reflect the lubrication condition. If the bearings are not lubricated or installed properly, the temperature of the bearings will rise sharply and abnormal high temperatures will occur. Using a thermal sensor can monitor the operating temperature of the bearings at any time and automatically alarm or stop when the temperature exceeds the specified value to prevent accidents such as burning of the bearings.
Vibration and Sound Check
The vibration and sound of bearings are also important indicators for judging the lubrication condition. Abnormal vibration and sound may indicate poor lubrication or other potential problems. The vibration can be measured using a special bearing vibration meter, and the specific situation of abnormality can be inferred through frequency analysis.
Maintain lubrication status
Regular Lubrication
Check the lubricant level regularly and ensure that it is replaced at least once a year. Proper lubrication can reduce friction and wear, extend fatigue life, and eliminate friction heat and cooling.
Seal Maintenance
Check for wear, damage, or leakage in the seals. Ensure that the seals are properly lubricated and check for worn seal lips. Before installation, immerse felt seals in hot oil.
Cleaning and Washing
Regularly clean sliding bearings to remove dirt and debris. Before cleaning the bearings, check the amount of remaining lubricant and take a sample for analysis.
Correct Installation
Before installing the bearings, inspect the physical condition or damage of the bearing housing and shaft. Use the correct installation method, avoid direct heating or overheating, and it is best to heat the bearings with an induction heater.
By the above methods, the lubrication condition of the bearing housing can be effectively checked and maintained to ensure the long-term stable operation of the bearings.
