Daily Inspection and Maintenance
Routine inspection is the foundation of slurry pump maintenance. By visually inspecting the pump body, bearings, seals, etc., potential problems can be identified and addressed in a timely manner. During operation, it is important to pay attention to whether the slurry pump has abnormal sounds and observe whether the vibration exceeds the standard. These are all important indicators for judging whether the pump body is clean.
Cleaning and Tightening
Regularly clean the interior of the pump body to remove accumulated slurry and keep the flow passage unobstructed, which is a key measure to prevent impurities from clogging. In addition, inspect and tighten the bolts of all components of the pump body to prevent loosening, which is also part of ensuring the cleanliness of the pump body.
Prevent impurities from entering
When using slurry pumps, it is crucial to prevent metal objects and large solid chunks from entering the pump. At the same time, avoid the entry of flexible materials such as rubber, cotton threads, plastic sheets, etc., to prevent damage to flow components, blockage of impeller passages, and ultimately cause the pump to malfunction. This should be clearly specified in the operating procedures and strictly enforced.
Management of shaft seal water and cooling water
The pressure and flow of shaft seal water and cooling water are like the lifeline of the pump. Regular inspection should be carried out by adjusting the valve opening or checking the temperature of the stuffing box to grasp the situation. If the temperature is high, it means that the supply is insufficient. For pumps lubricated with grease, regular oiling should be carried out daily to ensure that the stuffing remains lubricated as before.
Choice and Replacement of Filler
The selection of filler is also very important. It is recommended to use carbon fiber impregnated with polytetrafluoroethylene or beef tallow boiled cotton thread. When the working pressure is not high, asbestos filler can also be used. During filling, it is necessary to strictly follow the requirements to ensure that the filler length is appropriate and the cut is staggered to achieve the best sealing effect. After filling, it is necessary to test run with water, adjust the pressure cover bolt to a state where leakage is point-like and not linear, so that the pump can perform at its best.
Adjustment of the clearance between the impeller and the front protective plate
To ensure the efficient operation of the pump, it is necessary to regularly adjust the gap between the impeller and the front protective plate, keeping it within the golden range of 0.75-1.00 mm. This will enable the pump to continuously output strong power.
Bearing Temperature Monitoring
Bearing temperature, like the pump's body temperature. Check regularly to ensure that the highest temperature does not exceed 75°C, allowing the pump to operate in a comfortable environment.
Lubricating Oil Replacement
Lubricating oil is like the blood of a pump and needs to be replaced regularly. After the pump has been running continuously for 800 hours, it should be thoroughly replaced once to ensure that the inside of the pump body is clean and runs smoothly.
Maintenance of the standby pump
The spare pump also needs care, rotate it by 1/4 turn every week to evenly bear the static load and external vibration on the shaft, and keep it in the best condition.
Preparation before startup
If the shutdown time is longer, before starting up again, please use backflush water to flush the deposits in the pump to ensure that the pump is clean and unblocked, making it easy to start.
Inspection of Supporting Structures
The supporting structure of the water inlet and outlet pipeline system is like the skeleton of the pump. Regularly check for looseness to ensure a firm support and a stable pump body.
The fastening condition of the pump body
The fastening condition of the pump on the foundation also needs attention to ensure a firm and reliable connection, allowing the pump to perform at its best in a stable environment.
Checking the direction of the motor
For newly installed and overhauled pumps, it is essential to test the motor's direction of rotation before installing the coupling shaft pin or drive belt. Be sure to avoid having the motor drive the pump in reverse, but in specific cases, such as backflow of liquid in the pipe, it is permissible for the pump to rotate in reverse. However, precautions must be taken against backflow of water when there is a significant difference in elevation.
Operation of Starting and Stopping the Pump
Before starting the pump, please turn on the shaft seal water and cooling water to inject vitality into the pump; after stopping the pump, please wait for 15 minutes before shutting it down to allow the pump to gently say goodbye to the working state.
Conclusionary
By taking the above maintenance measures, it is possible to effectively keep the slurry pump clean, prevent impurities from clogging, thereby ensuring the stable operation and prolonging the service life of the slurry pump.
