The material of the slurry pump is high chromium cast iron alloy, and other added elements are added:
In high chromium cast iron alloy materials for slurry pumps, molybdenum, manganese, and nickel mainly improve hardenability, but excessive manganese and nickel increase residual austenite. Molybdenum prices are high, and the amount added should be controlled.
It is generally believed that silicon is an element that promotes graphitization and has a deoxygenation effect. If the content is too high, it reduces the impact toughness, making the matrix brittle and prone to peeling during wear. Therefore, the content is limited to below 0.8. The industry believes that silicon can also reduce the amount of eutectic carbon, reduce the range of eutectic reaction temperature, and appropriately increase the silicon content (<1.5) to refine, equiaxed, isolated, and increase the number of carbides, thereby improving toughness. In addition, silicon is dissolved in the matrix and has a strong solid solution strengthening effect. At the same time, silicon also increases the potential of the substrate electrode and enhances its corrosion resistance.
An appropriate amount of rare earth elements can deoxygenate and sulfur, purify the molten iron, and produce a large amount of rare earth high melting point compounds that can act as heterogeneous nuclei to refine the grains. Therefore, rare earth modification treatment is widely used to improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of high chromium cast iron. However, excessive addition of rare earths can generate a large amount of rare earth inclusions, leading to serious deterioration of performance.
Vanadium can improve the strength, toughness, and wear resistance of high chromium cast iron under non high temperature conditions. Copper is often combined with molybdenum and manganese to improve material wear resistance. Adding an appropriate amount of boron and titanium can also improve the impact erosion performance of the material.
